I began my teaching career in 1971 in Queensland, Australia, at what seems now the ridiculously young age of nineteen. Perhaps it was a blessing that we (in the 'fast-tracked' teacher training program) were too young and naive to know how much we didn't know!
After spending twenty years working, travelling and having three children, I joined the staff of Mount Barker Waldorf School in 1992 as an English teacher, with my role now scaled back to teaching just four Main Lessons a year; namely, Class 9 Biography, Class 11 'Parzival', Class 12 'Crime and Punishment' and the Class 12 play. Since I directed the Class 10 Shakespeare play for fifteen years, I assist with that production also as and when I can. My ongoing commitment to forming and maintaining warm and productive relationships with students and colleagues alike means that I am reluctant to retire completely until it becomes blatantly obvious that I really must!
