They need activities that stretch limits, channel energy, and support self-affirmation. Educational bridge: Movement is integrated with history (explorers, Renaissance), mathematics (geometry, rhythm...), sciences (mechanics, physiology..), arts (drawing, sculpture, music...). Movement goals: Posture, rhythm, elasticity (sinews & tendons), agility, social cooperation, strength, creative self-expression. Form: Spirals in and out — symbol of expansion and contraction, perfect for this age. Complete Main Lesson in Movement that: Supports the developmental stage (puberty, search for ideals, inner tension, need for expression), sense of life. Fun and energy Connects to curricular content (explorers, Renaissance, mathematics, sciences, arts, literature), Integrates dance (folk + contemporary), rhythm, games, stick work (if you have long and short sticks), improvisation, 5 elements, acrobatic contact dance carries and reflection. Repetitive steps but with a small challenge/Group dancing /Upbeat, energetic music. Core Features Warm-up daily: spirals, posture, awareness of space. Dance: folk (circle, line, partner), contemporary, improvisation. Rhythm: body percussion, gumboots, clapping games. Stick Work: safe Philippine stick drills, Spacial Dynamics fencing solo/partner/group, improvisation. Games: tag variations, relays, Space ball, Juggling initiation, throw & catch balls, free play. Partner work, respecting boundaries Elements: Earth, Water, Fire, Air, Ether – expressed in movement. Reflection: drawing, connecting movement to academic subjects
Workshop 1- Teacher observers with then spend the late morning workshop discussing the content, student dynamics and other aspects of the lesson, everyday
Workshop 2 - In the afternoon workshop teachers will work in groups with the history curriculum for grades 8-11, for Waldorf schools and make an attempt to find how the various topics taught in Waldorf schools can be integrated with the local CBSE / IGCSE curricula. Teachers will be given a typical Waldorf curriculum in advance for the relevant grades and will have to come prepared to contrast/ compare it with the board's syllabus of their school, to make this a meaningful workshop for all.
Jayesh's workshops - See program schedule - 2nd - 7th Jan 2026
Masterclass main lesson - Atmosphere and Weather - Grade 8 students of Inodai Waldorf School, Mumbai and H3LF, Pune. The lesson will begin with a narrative journey into the living atmosphere, inviting students to imagine the Earth surrounded by its invisible yet vital mantle of air. Through story and observation, they encounter the formation and types of clouds, the movement of winds, and the ever-changing play of temperature, pressure, and humidity. Each day, students will observe and record weather data, noting wind direction, temperature, and cloud forms, and prepare a daily weather report. These morning observations will find their complement in the afternoon’s aeromechanical experiments, where the phenomena of air movement, lift, and pressure differences will be explored through simple demonstrations.
The class will study land and sea breezes, wind patterns, and cyclonic systems, relating them to both their recorded data and the physical experiments observed in class. In this way, the broad gestures of weather in nature are linked to the precise forces of moving air.
Throughout the week, students will compile a weather journal with cloud sketches, instrument drawings, and reflections on the day’s phenomena. Gradually, they will move from direct, qualitative experience toward an understanding of the active principles of warmth, pressure, and flow that shape the atmosphere around us.
The week culminates in the story of Evangelista Torricelli and his pioneering work with air pressure and the invention of the barometer, marking the first human step in measuring the breath of the Earth itself.
Workshop 1- Students and teacher observers with then spend the early afternoon session observing/ understanding aeromechanical experiments related to the morning main lesson.
Workshop 2 - During the late afternoon workshop, teachers will work in groups with Seshadri discussing how to enliven the geography curriculum for grades 4-10, in Waldorf schools. They will also explore how the Waldorf curriculum can be integrated with the local CBSE / IGCSE syllabus.

Through four master classes and feedback sessions, Sophia Montefiore will support the class and teachers to experience aspects of the Conic Sections Main Lesson through coordinate geometry, hands-on activities, and biographies of significant people and places. Teachers will be supported to participate and understand the Waldorf context and methodology for the Conics Main Lesson and how a range of curriculum aspects are covered.
Workshop 1- Teacher observers with then spend the late morning workshop discussing the content, student dynamics and other aspects of the lesson, everyday.
Workshop 2 - Mathematics development through the Primary and High School years
Sophia Montefiore will explore the overall development and structure of the Waldorf Mathematics syllabus through classes 4-12. The workshops will discuss the significance of the topics and ways to unfold them in a meaningful and engaging way for the students.
Artistic Work for Teachers - Sophia Montefiore has worked extensively with teachers to develop confidence in their blackboard drawing skills. These workshops will focus on tone and colour for depicting three dimensions, and proportion when drawing animals and humans.
